Marlén Jacobshagen

For the past decade, I have been working on creating offline and online storytelling content to bring people from different cultures and backgrounds together and learn from each other. To do this, I like to immerse myself in historical and cultural landscapes and look for commonalities.

My great passion lies in making a wide range of information tangible to a broader audience. In the many years of my career, I have learned that entertaining, groundbreaking, and sometimes life-changing information can be right in front of us without us even realising it. I have made it my career goal to research, obtain and analyse this information and present it in a way that is understandable and gripping, be it for cultural projects or linguistic research.

I believe that understanding language in its naturally occurring form holds a lot of valuable information. My aspiration for my academic work is to look closer at language in different forms to break down this information in a way that improves our understanding of each other.

Who I am

I have almost a decade of work experience in communications-based roles. Both as a full-time employee and a freelancer, I have worked on creating gripping content that is rooted in deep research.

My passion lies in analysing data. In my academic career as a linguist, I have worked on acquiring continuously beneficial computational and quantitative methods to further expand my scientific skills. My research interests cover human-machine interaction, linguistic variation and sociolinguistics.
